German automaker BMW is recalling more than 140,000 Mini Cooper SE electric vehicles globally due to a battery system defect that poses a potential fire risk. The recall affects around 39,000 vehicles in Germany alone.
The company has identified a problem in the battery system that could lead to overheating, increasing the risk of a fire even when the vehicle is parked. While there have been no reported accidents or injuries related to this issue, BMW has taken precautionary measures to address the safety concern.
The Mini Cooper SE vehicles involved are equipped with a diagnostic feature in their software that detects battery malfunctions and alerts drivers. Owners who receive a notification are advised to visit an authorized Mini service partner for inspection and necessary repairs.
BMW is actively working to resolve the issue and ensure the safety of its customers. The company is reaching out to affected vehicle owners to provide guidance and support throughout the recall process.
